Shock and Awe
Usage of the phrase has dropped dramatically recently, seems to me...
I was listening to a CBC radio interview with a western woman in Baghdad yesterday, she told about going to a child's outdoor birthday party in Baghdad while bombs were falling not too far away. Nobody paid too much attention. I think planners were counting on the bombing having an effect like it might have if it had been done to Duluth Minnesota or Taos New Mexico, but Baghdad has endured a lot of tough times and the population isn't easily shocked.
