<This is how it's done, folks. As far as Fisk is concerned, despite the lack of any proof whatsoever, the Iraqi regime's story on how the marketplace was bombed is the gospel truth, down to the number of missiles, how they hit, where they hit, exactly how the damage was done, and the fact that they were launched from a plane. Of course, cruise missiles aren't launched from a plane, but why let facts screw up a good, hysterical anti-American rant?

A real investigation would be helpful in this case. One can imagine the liklihood of an objective investigation taking place. Fragments from the weapons could be found. Alternatively, the Iraqis could also "salt" the area with easily-available fragments of American weapons from other attack sites.

Unless the Americans have a very precise count of bombs and missiles, and can prove none are "unaccounted for" during that attack, this might never be resolved.
