"Oh, yes. The US has those same weapons - supplied 'em to Iraq, as a matter of fact. Damnedest thing, now Cheney and Rumsfeld WANT 'EM BACK. "
This is of course completely false. It's even doubtful that any country has provided Iraq with chemical or biological weapons (including Russia which has tons of surplus and shortage of money and lacks proper govt control or N Korea which seems to want to sell just about anything). There are items available commerically in the US which could used to make these weapons- knowledge, raw material, finished products which could dual use, etc.
BUT even if the US had provided Iraq with WMD (even say a handful of nuclear bombs [might as well be really crazy:]) it doesn't change the fact the Iraq had signed a cease fire agreement in which it agree to rid itself of ALL WMD (which it the time they claimed didn't consider much of problem since claimed not to have much (or any) of a WMD program.
You know the strange part of all this, is that the Left was probably mainly responsible for ultimately having such a clause in the agreement. Having countries getting rid of WMD wasn't really something the Right generally considered "practical". To now, have the Left *somehow!!* arguing that Iraq *should* have WMD, is very odd. I suppose that it's because Iraq actually signed an agreement to not have WMD, that *somehow* gets twisted to mean that the country *now* has the "right" to have WMD.
