<Google News

4,500 DIFFERENT NEWS sources are scanned realtime.

After you make a search you can choose it defaults your search by RELEVANCE but you can choose SORT by DATE on the upper right hand corner. This way if a story broke 2 minutes ago it will pop up first.

It simply is far better than any other source out there because it collects similar stories and puts them together. You can read fifteen different rewrites of the same AP story with various slants.

It taps globally and so one does not just get the US or the European views but also the orient and obscure news sites I had never imagined existed.

It only went online a few months ago but since then I use it more than NBC or CNN or Drudge. I am convinced Drudge gets his "breaking" news by doing Google News searches as well and then setting up links.
