Hi Gary,

I just keep a bunch of search terms handy:

Iraq War
Republican Guard
Basra
Kurd
Fedayeen
etc. etc.

And then I click "sort by date" after the initial results come up. They don't offer the date option until AFTER you make a search.

If I hear of some specific story or rumor I want more info on, I combine keywords:

boats Republican guard euphrates

Iraqi tank hospital

Cobra Helicopters Nasiriyah

For very specific stories I also sometimes use quotation marks on a phrase:

"Is Saddam dead"

"Apache helicopter down"

etc.

Likewise after making the search I click "sort by date" so as to make available the very latest posted stories from around the world.

Google news takes a little manipulation - but is well worth the effort to pull up a plethora of news articles and one can usually find out the latest breaking news just with a few key word searches.
