I'd say it was naive to compare the motives of diluded Plaestinians and Al-queda operatives with Saddam's troups. While I think the first two are moral imbeciles I think they at least have a selfless motive or a motive for status in the afterlife. Saddam's hencmen are motivated by more earthly concerns of fear and personal greed and are more likely to make rational judgements.

Long term occupation is a potential issue, and it is important to exit as rapidly as possible. I think it is quite likely that a year or two occupation will be seen as a liberation and helping hand rather than occupation. The length of goodwill will be strongly depenent on our conduct of the war and effectiveness and speed in rebuilding Iraq.
