<<a href=http://www.washingtonpost.com/wp-dyn/articles/A48265-2003Mar29.html<Sounds like Vietnam.
Although the situation is different. Iraq is isolated geopolitically, with no protectors or suppliers, has been “sanctioned” for 12 years, and has a military budget of $1.4 billion as opposed to $323 billion. The "no-fly" zone has been patrolled in such a way as to demolish Iraq's air defences. And Iraq doesn’t have a chance in the long run, but HAS lasted about 1 week longer than it should have.
One week longer than it would have if the US military had competent civilian leadership.
The article points out that Iraq has fought the US operating under Rumsfeld’s war plan to a standstill.
The US general on the ground in Iraq knows what’s going on, and says so. The folks in Washington say he’s wrong.
History repeats itself. Blix, on the ground in Iraq, said inspections were working. The folks in Washington disagreed.
Won’t last, we all know. Iraq is toast. And it is sad to see so many dedicated, brave and loyal American kids having their lives put on the line because of Rumsfeld’s blundering. Should have been over by now. The casualties from now on can be laid at Rumsfeld's door.
This is the problem with Bush’s management style, which is to regard any information, any facts, which disagree with his predetermined point of view as being disloyal.
Even the conservatives have to see this. I mean, it’s there.
