Not all the sources are unnamed, and there was a chorus of retired and active military leaders who expressed concern about the lack of boots on the ground for the task at hand even before the recent reports emerged about Rumsfeld. The unfolding of events has substantiated those concerns.

Honestly, I think your defense of Rumsfeld and his botched plan is based more on party loyalty and patriotism than on the emerging facts of the situation. I too have my partisan views but I am also a patriot. It pisses me off to no end this guy bullied his generals into accepting a smaller force than they wanted to wage this war.
