You're right
A google on "Iraq uav" turned up reports from June of last year about US forces observing a UAV test flight. The plane flew a 500-mile long horseshoe pattern. Once I got my memory jogged, I remembered reading those reports at the time.
However, I'm also right--UNMOVIC uncovered some UAVs, and raised the issue in one of their reports. See this article in Jane's.
