I think I've got it

The text of the release and the QA that followed

Wherein Blair said:

I want to thank the president also for the impetus he has given to the two-state solution in the Middle East that he outlined last June, a secure Israel and a viable Palestinian state, and for his decision that the roadmap be published which, as you know, depends upon the foundation of Abu Mazen's cabinet.

And Bush said:

Our governments are working to help bring about a settlement in the Middle East that protects the rights of Israelis and Palestinians, that promotes the peace, that promotes security, that promotes human dignity. In Northern Ireland the prime minister and I are committed to helping the parties take the final steps toward a lasting peace.

And I have to disagree with EP on this one. You go to N. Ireland to work on peace there, while your country is at war, make a statement about both of those developments and expect the media to pick up on the third thing you mentioned too. If the prez wanted buzz about Palestine, he should have separated it in another press conference. The reporter's questions were a pretty good indication of what they are interested in (and what they think the media-buying public wants to hear right now). The first 5 or 6 stories in any outlet are about the war, right now. That's what is selling advertising because that's what people want to read.

An indication about how important Blair and Bush thought the Palestine material was can be seen in the amount of their statements they gave to each topic: Most of their statement had to do with Iraq. Most of the rest was about Ireland.
