How many people in the US have died from terrorist acts? Just over 3000, almost all of which were in the 9/11 attacks. Averaged over 10 years, let's say 350 per year.
555,500 people die every year in the US from cancer. About 155,000 of these are from lung cancer, and almost all of those are attributable to smoking cigarettes. Cigarettes kill 50 times as many Americans every year as died in terrorist attacks.
Motor vehicle accidents claimed 43,000 victims in the US in 2000. 14 times as many as 9/11.
31,000 die of gunshot wounds each year, and almost the same number die by suicide. Some of these cases overlap, of course. Ten times as many as 9/11, each. Every year.
EVERY SINGLE DAY 24,000 people die in the world from starvation or starvation related diseases. That means that every four hours more people in the world die from starvation as have ever died in the US from terrorism in all it's history. Every four hours. About the length of time it takes to watch a blockbuster movie.
I conclude from the above that the US "war on terrorism" is bogus, and that there must be other motivations than preventing deaths of US (or world) citizens. Giving "liberation" as a significant motive for invading Iraq is also bogus. The "war on drugs" is bogus if it's supposed to save people's lives.
Think about what other motivations there might be for these wars.
