Not really high rate of travel to China, just one infected woman, who then infected her son before she died. He passed it on to another elderly person at a hospital before he died. Then a religious group attending the funeral of the old man spread SARS among about a dozen people. The entire religious group of about 500 people are now quarantined. There are others infected as well, including some nurses and doctors treating those who were sick. Everyone who has SARS or is suspected of having it is in quarantine. Many have passed through the 10-days and are now out. Those remaining in quarantine number about 150, thereabouts.
This is a city of 4 million, I see almost nobody wearing masks, or avoiding public transit. There is almost zero risk of catching SARS in Toronto. It is not airborne like the flu, and has killed far fewer people than the flu. Even if you catch SARS, it probably won't kill you unless you are very old, have a respiratory condition, or have a compromised immune system.
