I agree the perception of a deliberate campaign of deception would have negative consequences for Bush and apologize for misinterpreting your comments. However, I think there has already been enough circumstantial evidence for most people to think we had good reason to believe Saddam had WMD. I think most Americans will not end up with the perception of deception because of that and that is part of the reason why polls show strong support for the war even if we don't find them.
