I agree that this article is a very weak piece of "journalism".
Even I thought it was sad.
Hell, you don't have to go far to find something with MEAT in it......however, the conservative pundits here just wish it away. To them, Bush is Captain America and all is well in Oz.
As for Yours Truly, he's not as erudite as Splinx, nor as brutally honest as Bowser (I miss them both). The boards here have diminished significantly without these debaters.
Too bad it's only Robert, LJ and I taking on the believers, backed up occasionally by Davin L, Raoul, Fox, Alcaray, and Mary Anne.
When I'm not here, I often see our arguments reflected in real life as I move about in my own world with my job and business contacts.
A very interesting perspective.
For instance, my new business has a French name, but it is an American company. My new consultant asked me if it was French, and would it hurt our sales?
I had to pause, reflect and answer the best I could, as I don't want to give the
"French" dissing any energy.........("Are there Communists under the bed yet?")
Instead I just laughed and admitted I knew others who had a problem with French products, but I hastened to point out the danger of buying into some feel-good sayings, that she might want to ignore these personal feelings.
And of course, I brought up Waxman's telltale congressional letter to Rumsfeld, how Cheney's Halliburton Company had been banned for having contracts with terrorist nations for over 10 years, yet have been doing business with Iraq, Iran and Syria all this time under the threat of ten years inmprisonment and millions of dollars worth of fines.
Perhaps, she might mention THAT the next time someone waves the French-dissing in her face.
Although I generally keep my political opinions to myself (except, perhaps on these boards);
I have an advantage over my opponents by calculating their hypocrisy or ignorance by the patriotic braying they do without have a clear understanding of all the facts being presented.
Then I get to gently educate them.
