If I may toss a few facts into the stew...

Bennett ran 8 million in casino credit during the time period mentioned. No one says he lost it all, or even a fraction of it. There is no way to tell. Needless to say, this doesn't make as good a story, but at least we on this board can keep it straight.

Additionally, the Books of Virtue were not autobiographies of "Bennett The Perfect," but collections of writings on morality from many other people. As far as I can find, nowhere in them does Bennett set himself up personally as ANY kind of example.

I pointed out what I think is the discrepancy between his acceptance of gambling as a personal choice, but not the use of marijuana, although both are certainly potentially harmful. Most of the rest of the crap being thrown at him is a leftist hog pile on someone who had the nerve to point out that moraiity exists.

Again, a few years ago many of the same people currently pointing the finger of shame at Bennett were puffing up with indignation at the idea that it was anyone else's business if Clinton got his ashes hauled by someone not his wife in the Oval Office.
