Rah, rah, rass!

Kick 'em in the other leg! (old high school joke)

I repeat, for apparently needed emphasis:

"...[N]egotiation and international co-operation based on international law, respect for human rights, and economic development." Leftist politics? Too bad values like that aren't universal - maybe you can enlighten me as to which of them the Right disagrees with - and more importantly, why?

Your post did not answer the question(s) directly; merely reinforced your typical characterization. So, allow me to recast the the core issue without resort to Left/Right:

"Negotiation and international co-operation based on international law, respect for human rights, and economic development" are goals and behaviors of responsible members of the international community. The policies of the Bush Administration have been, by and large, irresponsible under those criteria. Therefore, honoring Jimmy Carter for decades of work in support of those goals and behaviors may very well have been a deliberate slap in the face.

There's a lot of us out here, Right, Left and center, who believe it's deserved... but Bush won't learn anything from it. Neither will his syncophants.
