Because if it wasn't for the patriot act, um, thats how we would all die...

Because, um, as you see... Our pre-9/11 intelligence gathering abilities were entirely inadequate because, um, our intelligence organs had NO date spelling out what was happening. Nope. They had no idea. None at all that there were flagged terrorists going to flight schools, who were CALLING the FBI because the said tewrrorist was asking to learn only how to fly, not take off and land..

Nope, completely blind.

Now, I'm not screaming conspiracy, but we had everything we needed in place to stop 9/11. All the data, all the procedures, all the apparati. In the end, it was incompetence of the intelligence and law enforcement peoples and system that did us in. NOT the policeman in the street and the judges on the bench having to 'respect' all those annoying civil liberties.

The War Department and the Federal Income Tax was supposed to be temporary, but they are both here to stay. So is the Patriot act.

Thanks to all you god-fearing BIG-government hating right wingers for giving us the Incredible Shrinking Bill of Rights...

Hey, I screw up and drop the ball on a project at work, they don't give me a raise, put me in charge of even more people, give me more power and slap me on the back and call me a good guy....
