I never thought I'd ever say anything in defense of Netscape, but I feel that I should point out that Netscape 7 is based on Mozilla 1.3. Kind of a tepid defense, I guess. I do object to the way the Netscape integrators larded it up with marketing features to promote Netscape, and an installer that sinks tendrils into your system that you can never remove.

I like Mozilla 1.3 quite a bit, and I figure that the genuine article without the add-ons has to be more stable. That sidebar's proved useful, and as a developer I like the tools like the debugger. All in all it's a worthy competitor against IE.
