Yeah, I think anyone who wants any modern fighting-force to intervene in a conflict that involves mostly machetes in mostly rural settings where one side is identifiable from the other ONLY through tribal affiliation is absolutely mad.
How do you tell which guy with a machete is the bad guy?
Anyone know how to build a Machete seeking weapon?
How many troops would it take to 'peacekeep' tens of millions of people then tens of thousands of rural villages?
What about the fact that much of the killing is done by children pressed into service by 'adults' (who themselves are only fresh out of their teens). How would an american soldier cope with a 12 year old rifle-toting kid, looking just like their nephew or son, shooting at them on full-auto?
And if the american soldie pulled the trigger and killed the kid- how hard would it be for our soldier? Isn't that too much to ask?
Now take the 'our' out of the way and put in 'UN'
Thats why I don't buy the claims that Clinton/US/UN/NATA was 'racist' for intevening in Europe and Hati and not Rawanda. How would you even begin?
