The lie that died too damn fast
Remember this little gem? It was in all the papers for a few days when it looked like Bush was ignoring a report that showed his tax cuts would ruin the economy.
Then it came out in the report that about 99 percent of the $44 trillion crushing future debt was solely due to two items: Social Security and Medicare. The current tax cuts added up to less than one percent of this number.
Boy, did THAT shut people up. Nobody wanted to hear that entitlements were the economic doom of the nation. Bingo...no more story.
