Iraqi Mobile Biological Warfare Agent Production Plants

Four points to consider:

1) The Iraqis never mentioned anything to the UN about using such mobile plants for “hydrogen for weather balloons” That certainly appears to be just a cover story.

2) The analysts questioning the CIA finding are a minority. Most analysts believe that the Iraqi trailers are indeed linked to germ weapons.

3) On the issue of “gear for steam sterilization”, the same NYT article states on the next page:

“Three senior intelligence officials in Washington, responding to the criticisms during a group interview on Tuesday, said the Iraqis could have used a separate mobile unit to supply steam to the trailer. Some Iraqi decontamination units, they said, have such steam generators. The officials also said some types of chemical sterilization were feasible without drastic follow-up actions. “

4) The CIA has considered the rather weak objections by some skeptical analysts and dismissed them.
