NATO is already changing to meet the challenges of 21 Century, to be a member requires the country be a democracy, and have a competent miltary. Now, NATO has the hertiage of being defensive only, but that has already started to change. By the time NATO "gets into high gear" it's job will be "done", then it can return to a more defensive, less important role. Meanwhile the UN can continue it's flopping around, and will improve as we get more democratic and transparent govts.
Of course, I agree with Mark Eby, this is getting rather boring, space is more interesting & important:)
