Anyone seen the Hulk movie?

I was a kid when the TV show was out, and I even saw them shoot one of the shows. I loved that show.

Being married with two young kids, it may be a long time before I see the Hulk movie, so I have a question for anyone who has seen it. What is David Banner's role in this movie (Nike Nolte). I am guessing he is the same David Banner from the TV series, and he has passed the Hulk "gene" down to his son. Is this correct?
