After reading enough review I got my questioned answered.
The David Banner of the Hulk movie has nothing to do with the one on the TV show. The TV show got away from Bruce Banner because they didn’t want to follow the comic book naming convention- fist initial last and initial being the same like Lex Luthor, Lois Lane and Peter Parker. So the TV show named Banner, David (Ironic that Bill Bixby would have made a great comic book name). The producers of the Hulk movie go back to the original comic book name of Bruce Banner. I guess they thought David would be a great name for his father.
The movie has nothing to do with the TV show. Lou Ferrigno does make a brief appearance as a security guard. The movie seems to fall back on the comic book. The critics are saying it is a dark humorless movie that intellectuals will like but people who want mindless entertainment will not. Sounds like a movie I would like. I like movies that make you think that have a tragic hero (Following the Greek classics) like the movie Brazil.
I thought the TV show was sort of depressing at times, but never dark. Lou played, very well I might add, a child-like Hulk. Bill’s Banner was a tragic hero, IMO.
