re: Panspermia two step expalined again to Mark Eby - aka Broken Record number 1

For the last time:

No evidence of living microbes from Mars landing on Earth buy meteorite or any other means has ever been documented. If you know a case where it has please cite it here.

If the Hoyle/Wickramasinghe theory of Cometary Panspermia is correct, then diseases occassionally drop in on Earth and can wreak havoc. We know Earth has experienced many mass extinctions and since none of us were around to see what happened, we can only postulate certain scenarios. Some researchers like Ross McPhee (hopefully I won't have to explain who he is or perhaps you think he is a quack too?) suggest disease caused the Pleistocene extinctions. Until we study cometary materials, lypholized microbes are a possibility.

Since the LR results from Mars indicate something was consuming the c-14 lableled nutrients, we must not bring samples back to Earth nor send people to Mars until robots equipped with instruments to study such life have been developed.

Instead of the crazy stuff the Mars Society is pulling with its canvas clad spacemen in the Utah desert, they should engage in real Mars science by pooling their resources and sending additional life sciences experiments to Mars.

"They go outside in white canvas space suits trimmed in duct tape. Their helmets are made from plastic light fixtures and white bullet-shaped trash-can lids. In their habitation module (the thing that looks like a silo), they sit with their laptops late into the cold desert night, typing up reports of simulated Mars disasters."

Does the above sound like science to you? If it does you have some serious psychological problems.
