My wife and I have told our family that we wish to donate any and all usable organs and then be cremated. As for me, I don't want to burden my family with a bunch of funeral expenses nor waste good land on a grave. When I'm gone, I'm gone.
A lot of my attitude was shaped by how the funeral director tried to sucker my mother into buying a multi-thousand dollar casket for my father. I was with her at the time. That son of a bitch was working on her hard to buy something she couldn't afford. When you see things like that first hand, it tends to make a lasting impression.
