Whle this seems to have passed you right by, there is a big difference between unmanned probes and manned Mars flight. My statement is that the more unmanned probes to Mars, the less public interest in manned Mars flight.

"The more unmanned probes to Mars, the less public interest in manned Mars flight." Is an assertion not based on previous experience with Mars missions. Interest grows as Sojourner was on the ground...but, it is possible for familiarity to breed contempt. But your assertion also assumes public interested in some requirement of a manned mission.
