Ask a simple question...

You asked, quite plainly, why the Democrats were bitching. I gave you the obvious answer. If the shoe were on the other foot - that is, if it had happened on Clinton's watch, or if Gore had been elected instead - the same "redaction" would be occuring for the same reasons, and the Republicans would be screaming.

I know "loose lips sink ships". I also conclude loose fingers fumbled the ball, and that we'll never precisely know whose fingers, and how many balls were fumbled. I don't particularly care for the details, as long as the system is repaired.

One unavoidable interpretation begins to emerge: the American intelligence community has had serious compentency 'issues' since at least [throwing a dart in the board] the Carter Administration. The hostage-taking in Teheran; the cake, Bible and arms trades behind Reagan's back; whatever was missed during Clinton's years that allowed the setup of 9/11; and now the inability to either confirm or deny the presence of proscribed weapons in Iraq...

Something is very very rotten in Langley, and Fort Meade, and wherever else the spooks are covering their asses these days.
