i came and stayed for 3-4 years on this website-forum with
the VAIN f---ing hope that something useful and practical could be
accomplished regarding the promotion and advancement of

How wrong I was...What a waste of time these 3-4 years have been!

And there's so much talent, brains and skill here on habitablezone.com
that could be [could have been] harnessed, recruited & drawn together
into a powerful body to advance, develop and promote that great adventure "space travel" ...What a waste of talent and ability left to "chat" and "argue", and generally not accomplish much [...]

I'm giving habitablezone.com one last chance to accomplish
something useful...Hopefully I won't be tied up on the FLAME board
too long if it comes to that, I have better use for my time.

Jacob, several (inter)national organizations of space science enthusiasts with public fund-raising, corporate sponsors and "big names" have been unsuccessful in altering the attitudes of the governmental bodies who are still the sole participants in leaving the Earth. Just what deluded you into thinking a handful of amateurs and two or three professional scientists could accomplish anything more?

If you could somehow 'magic away' all the disagreements, arguments, and personal attacks, and gain a solid consensus here about what should be the correct priorities for a space exploration program, you still would have a bunch of (almost all) guys who have jobs and lives tied up in other areas of knowledge. Most of us are little better than dilettantes - at best, educated laymen. None of us are capable of abandoning careers to throw ourselves meaninglessly against the granite walls of public opinion and political power.

I'm trying to not be patronizing; nevertheless, the plain fact is you have been operating under an entirely unrealistic set of expectations. Why it took you three or four years to awaken to that fact is a question only you can answer.
