re: ads

Kids will get plenty of advertising outside of school, and whether or not it is included in the school environment won't make that much difference. That being said, I would personally not like to see fast-food ads (or others) in schools, particularly if done in such a way as to make it seem like the school itself endorses the company. Maybe those classy "supported by" types of ads that public TV uses while firmly pretending that they aren't ads.

I don't worry that much about advertising. It is largely the elitists who assume that the "lesser folks" are enslaved to Madison Avenue, unable to resist the siren song of Ronald McDonald. In fact, most people take ads in stride, and make their own decisions.

Oddly, elitists seem to be somehow immune to these ads. Must be their superior brains.

Has anyone ever heard someone call for government restrictions on behavior to stop himself from doing something? It's always to keep the proles from misbehaving. The elitist needs no such assistance, of course.
