That ranks as the all time worst movie I've ever seen, even worse than Army training films.
I saw "Quintet" when I was stationed in Germany. There were 3 movie theaters on Ramstein when I was there. Movies would rotate through the 3 theaters so those of us who were shift workers would get a chance to see most movies. Since AFRTS (Armed Forces Radio and Television Service, pronounced a-farts) only had 1 channel, I watched a lot of movies. Most only cost a dollar but some cost $1.50 (remember, this was 1978 to 1980). When I walked into the theater that evening, there were less than 20 people there. That was the first warning sign. During the course of this dreadful film, over half the people walked out. I was one of a handful who stayed to the end in the naive hope that it would get better. It never did.
From a science perspective, "Armageddon" is a horrible movie though it is entertaining. From a military/intel perspective, "Enemy of the State" is a terrible movie though it is somewhat entertaining if you're of the right mindset. I'll take your word for it about The Core.
