Riddle me this. How does it make sense to call a lull at this point?

The recent bus bombing had evoked the stongest reaction I can recall from the PA. Promises for all out war on the terrorists were made. My sympathies are with the Israelis and I can understand their suspicions of anything said by the PA but wouldn't a lull have made more sense before the retaliation rather than after.

The same old, same old responses by each side reminds me of the old Star Trek episode where two planets had been at war for hundreds of years. The war was conducted by computer instead of weapons and the projected casualties were marched into a chamber and vaporized by their own government.
