While I have been thoroughly jaded by the Palestinian Authority's lip service to the peace process, I am doubtful that this tit-for-tat strategy will be fruit for the Israelis. What they really need to be doing is appealling to the reasonable sentiments of moderate Palestinians, who Abbas needs in order contain militant Palestinians.

The Palestinian terrorists don't want peace. That is why whenever the peace process appears to actually be making progress, they send in the suicide bombers...they know that the Israelis will react with force, stalling the peace process.

What the Israelis need to do is focus their efforts on defending the security of their own people and land. The need to gain internatonal sympathy by acting in a manner that clearly shows that they are the true victims here. They need to keep from alienating moderate Palestinians who prefer peace and prosperity with Israel over religious doctrine.
