Treatments

The Avonex, interferon, is for multiple sclerosis. That my wife has it is no secret to anyone who has been reading my posts for a while. My post on our trip to Europe is typical.

One shot a week, which I administer. I watch the net for other developments.

I can make guesses, but I really have no idea what the current drug industry would be like if we had not regulated the hell out of it for decades, or if the manufacturers weren't able to charge all the market will bear when the ones paying the bills have seemingly bottomless pockets (the government, insurance companies.) This is useless speculation, like wondering what transportation would be like if the government hadn't taken on the cost of building highways many years ago while other methods of transport had to pick up their own infrastructure costs.

One wonders what the food industry would be like if everyone had their food costs picked up by some other entity. If we were ALL on food stamps...?

I do know that if we pass a drug entitlement, giving the drug companies another direct pipeline into the treasury, that it's damn sure the price of drugs isn't going to go down. If anything, we should pass some form of supplement, like food stamps, that helps only those who need it.
