re: BC forest fires update

Hi Lindy - welcome back.

As far as I've heard, Penticton is OK, though there is a fire burning at Vaseux Lake that is causing problems. Naramata was on evacuation alert for several days until the winds shifted towards Kelowna. Hardest hit have been Kelowna, the Barriere area (a small town called Louis Creek was totaly destroyed), and now Cranbrook (where I lived for 8 years), a number of homes are threatened by fires pushed by winds up to 80 km/h.

Temps are cool overnight but there is no significant rain in sight... some experts think that fires will be burning until winter snows finally snuff them out, and some maybe not even then.

CBC has a photogallery on their news site.
