Well, I'd put the culture under observation. Swing by and take soil and skin samples.
Maybe abduct one or two hundred from around the globe and tag them. And follow them.
Send them secret messages to see if they were paying attention.
If they were war-like, I'd treat them like children. Fudge their weapons, make them useless.
Make them go sit in the corner and fret.
Occasionally blast one way with my ray gun.
Just as a show of strength.
Maybe make myself known with signals or drawuings they might understand.
You know, similiar to what they do to us.
