"We have been taken to the cleaners almost every time we try the diplomatic route with amoral monsters."
Sorry, but I am confused: Is the diplomacy you speak of our alliance with Saddam in the 80's? Or was it the sanctions of the 90s? Funny, last I saw we had armed jets over 50% of his country, engaging forces on a regular basis, and cruise missiles landing every few years.
You should try to be more clear, because I thought that by Red you might actually meant Red, and not Green or Yellow.
But lets assume for the sake of a good debate that by diplomacy, you mean the later.
Last I can tell, it looked like this thing you call 'diplomacy' was an unqualified success, as an occupying force of 100,000 troops in posession fo the country for about 5 months can't find ANY Weapons of Mass Destruction or even any verifiable trace of WMD. Nor any proof of terrorist alliances.
Why is it that you insist that the only alternative we had to war was to believe that Saddam had taken up knitting? This is false, as last I checked, we did not patroll Knitting Clubs with Jets aircraft, nor did we fire cruise missiles at Knitters, nor did we impose sanctions on Knitting Clubs, nor did we insist time and time again for inspection regimes on Knitting households.
However, we did all those things to Iraq- and it appears to have succeeded. Oh, but if you are aware of WMD in Iraq that exhibit a failure, do be sure to post that data here. Please accept this as a challenge from me.
Are you quite finished constructing false palaces of rhetoric yet? Doesn't this get tiring for you? I hope reality does housecalls nowadays, otherwise you need to get out more.
