Comparing Apples And Oranges.

The tax bite on a family earning 67,800 would have been higher in 1973 Tom. That was before the Republican tax cuts. The difference which you missed is two people earning an average of 33,900 each versus one earning 38,700. We have always had a graduated income tax for which higer earners pay more. The Republican's don't think that's fair and that the rich should have even more descretionary income to consolidate their power. The difference is not because taxes were raised but that it takes more for other items these days just as the article stated. Both parents need to work so the family earns more and pays more taxes.

The daycare bite sounds big, but would spend about 7000 a year in low cost AL if we didn't use a church daycare and my wife worked year round.

Mark
