Chris writes: Gunn was to attend a meeting in 1996 and the Mars Society formed in 1998. But, if Gunn was a member of the Mars Society he would logically be a nut to be marginalized and his opinion would be of no worth. I provided his short bio for our perusal and I note nowhere the mention of a biology degree or experience in that field. From what I understand of your bases of argument against Zubrin's opinion on the same subject of the first half of Gunn's paper.
One would need a degree in there somewhere to be valid. Why is Gunn's opinion valid and not Zubrin's?

Brief BIO
Tom Gunn is familiar with the history he will talk about. He has panned for gold in Canada and fought with claim jumpers. He designed, built and launched his first rocket before Sputnik. After five years at White Sands Missile Range, Mr. Gunn worked at the Manned Spacecraft Center during the Apollo Project. He has a BS in Mathematics with minors in Physics and Engineering.
He then went on to a major conglomerate to design a complete manned spacecraft center, including launch vehicles, that included both mining the Moon, a monthly shuttle, and a “Mars one way to stay “ mission. The entire operation was to be privately owned and designed to pay for itself with spin-off manufacturing and return a profit.
An expert in managing large-scale projects and a computer consultant, Mr. Gunn has had many years experience in government, manufacturing, and education, and is currently a transportation safety consultant with the non-profit Institute of Transporation Technology.
