Sometimes I get pissed off at some European countries to the point that I wish we had just let the U.S.S.R. eat them. But you know, they probably would have gone right into Finlandization/Vichy mode, and never missed a beat or a meal.

Well Tom: I think that you are full of Bull all right and that kind of s**t usually isn't Red.

First: You seem to think that the United States single-handedly won the wars. Remember that there were many people from other countries fighting in the wars. You seem to think that the ‘people’ do not matter in a war, that only the weaponry is important.
It’s the ‘people’ that do the fighting and dying, the weapons only assist in that process.
This world would be peaceful place, with no wars, if there were no people on it.

Second: I believe that the official explanation for “Finlandization” is: ‘To cause (a country or other political unit) to adopt a neutral or conciliatory posture and policy in its relations with a great power.’

What would you do if a enormous gorilla was holding you by the throat and you had no weapon, would you kick him in the balls and make him angry or would you talk nice and offer him something that he might like.

I think that a “Finlandization” of Iraq with US would be a better deal than a continuing guerrilla war.
