Well, at least you concur that there ARE such animals in academia. While I have poked fun at the "fuzzy subject" folks who excel at such things, they are far from the only practitioners. Politicians do it all the time, just using smaller words, laying comforting and inspiring jabber on their audiences without actually saying anything at all.
There are also engineers who use jargon when it isn't necessary in order to confuse you or, more often, to make themselves sound more essential. I have run across these more than once. You can find their lesser kin working in many auto shops.
