compounding the error anyway, trying to hang the responsibility on Limbaugh's total inappropriateness (not to mention impropriety) as a sports commentator on your favorite protean bogeyman, "the Left".

What Rush forgot (assuming he ever knew) wasn't the "Rules of Political Correctness" - which, where I come from, are more commonly known as "being polite" - but the Rules of Sports Reporting. Specifically the one which says:

If it's not about sports, shut the f*** up!

Limbaugh is the one who dragged race politics in, not "the Left". Sports fans are the ones who know Limbaugh is a big fat idiot (this time), not "the Left". Sure, Rush's political adversaries are going to get their jollies . . . People laugh at clowns; if he doesn't want to be laughed at, he should leave off the big shoes and rubber nose.

By the way, I'm willing to bet that this blunder causes no more than a minor ripple in Limbaugh's radio listenership. Plenty of people who think he's a turd when it comes to football are still going to agree with him about politics.
