If people are not allowed to wear items that are required by their religions, then the school is not facilitating integration.
Hmm, ok, but wouldn't that mean they don't want integration (with the non-religious pupils)anyway?
I remember one of my brother's jewish classmate once presented a letter from his parents to the director asking to allow him not to attend school on saturday morning (we went to school on saturday mornings in the 60's) for religious reasons. He got it.
I remember being completely unaware of what Sabat was and thinking the guy wants to avoid school.
But luckily for him, the new school opened the following year.
Anyway, if they don't want to mix with secular oriented schoolmates, they now have a larger choice.
But is that integration?
