Misperceptions of the Left?
Oh, man, where to start? Economics? History? Culture? The blind faith in socialism?
Ah, to be fair, we need to confine it to the Iraq issue. Here's a few statements off the top of my head to add to those from the WSJ. They have little or no basis in reality. Which ones would your NPR guy think are true? Like the study authors, I'll cut them a break and eliminate the stuff they believed before the war that turned out to be bullshit.
- The Iraqis would be happy and peaceful and there would be no problems or attacks now in Iraq if the U.N. were in charge.
- Bush knew exactly what we would find in Iraq once we actually started investigations after the war.
- It was all about the oil.
- Iraq and Saddam posed no threat to world peace or stability in the Middle East, and would have remained harmless if left alone under the watchful eye of Hans Blix.
- Saddam was cooperating fully with the UN weapon inspections.
- The U.N. inspectors were effective in preventing Saddam from doing anything sneaky.
- The Iraqis were better off under Saddam.
- War never solved anything.
