Last weekend, a bunch of extreme skydivers were in nearby Canon City for a competition. Canon City is home to Royal Gorge, the highest major suspension bridge on Earth (over 1000 feet above the canyon floor).

Last Sunday, two jumpers dove out of a plane wearing wingsuits (have extra fabric between the legs and from the arms to extend the glide ratio. One diver was going to dive under the bridge while another was to fly over it at the same time. Instead, one of the divers hit the bridge, then fell to his death in the canyon. He was a 30 year old man (why am I not surprised) from Australia.

When it comes time to hand out the next set of Darwin Awards, he has to be a contender.
