How'd you do the conversion? Did you write your own method(s) or use something out of a library?
It sounds to me like it might be an optimization or compression issue. If you've written the conversion code yourself, though, then you probably know more about working with binary formats than I do. It's been ages since I've worked with anything other than proprietary or established formats.
