"Davin seems to be driven only by his viseral distaste for Bush and his defensive stance on the war. He took a strong position against it and he is not going to budge an inch. Shields are at max and phasers are on auto-fire. God only knows what his opinion is on Cuba and Castro. The only thing certain is, whatever his opinion was to begin with, it probably hasn't changed."
You have not listened to a word I have said here, have you Frank? or worse, you listen selectively and then infer dishonestly.
I have stated a dozen times, I supported Bush enthusiastically in Afghanistan, and was willing to yield grudging respect to him for how he handled the aftermath of Sept-11th. I am bound to reason, Frank- if you want to criticise me, do it on that count.
I have REASONS for thinking this war very wrong, and I have PRINCIPLES about matters of killing. Since nobody here has EVER been able to address those reasons, and because I am categiorically not a hypocrite, I stand my ground. When you are able to convince me that Saddam was a clear and present danger to the US, was planning to harm america with terrorist alliances, and was harboring hordes of WMD, THEN I might change my mind.
So yeah, until then, feel my phasers!
Whats your excuse? Oh, yes, I know. Iraq is the backyard of the arab muslim fundamentalists, dispitre Iraq not being an ethnically Arab, ideologically fundamentalist or even predominantly sunni. And yes, we (like cowards) got to move the battleground with terrorists to Iraq.
And when you tire of that rhetoric, you say that Saddam was just plain bad and deserved a good killing- regardless of all the innocent that stood inbetween us and the as-yet still free Saddam.
Unlike you, I actually listen.
As to my notions of Cuba: Cuba is a nothing, a Zip a Zero. An insignificant Island of no strategic relevance in the modern era. Capitalism is coming ti Cuba no matter what Castro does, bucause Castro will die and it all goes away but for the power and charisma of Castro.
Let the borders be opened, turn the refugees back to increase dissent. Let the Cuban Americans start businesses to import goods to Cuba. Let cuba drowned in the inevtiable economic renaissance due a country as well educated and well positioned (90 miles off the coast of the worlds largest importer) as Cuba.
