Sorry to persist

"I know PLENTY of muslims who take their faith with a grain of salt, and I have read many great muslim thinkers who take their religion with a grain of salt."

And I have had cocktails with Turkish Muslims. So, I should assume because of that and reading Muslim intellectuals that Islam is not a fundamentalist faith and I must juggle the terms dishonestly?

When you pass a primitive Baptist church or a Penecostal Holiness Church, do you think fundamentalist? If you see a member of same engaged in some secular preoccupation, do you think that they have forgotten their literal interpretation of scripture and belief in the rapture?

The Muslims are by any sane definition fundamentalist. What that means is that they can be lead in various directions by their religious leaders. Many of those leaders are inclined to lead them to violence, or so it appears in the real world out there.

As far as the battlefield question, I am happy that you acknowledge there is a battlefield. Perhaps we should put it to a vote of the American people as to where it should be located. I will be happy to vote for Antartica if they will agree to meet us there.
