Actually we hit -15C once in a while (which often is accompanied by 80 km/h outflow winds), but really the weather here is pretty decent. Over 12 inches of rain in a few days gets to be a bit much, but after a while it runs away.
BC of course does get harsher winter weather inland... my wife taught in Elkford in the Rockies years ago - one morning it was -50C with no wind (that's -58F).
