Here's one that baffles me...

How do you get self sustaining order to evolve from utter chaos? Imagine the digits of Pi. They're utterly random. If you search the digits of Pi long enough, you can find any possible set of patterns. Is it possible that a particular pattern of digits within Pi could somehow regenerate itself elsewhere within Pi? A theorem has been found showing how to calculate digits of Pi (in hexidecimal) without previously calculating the lower accuracy values. Could something like a recurrence formula exist for calculating the digits of Pi. I should point out that Pi pops up again and again in various physical formula describing nature, i.e. Maxwell equations, quantum theory, probability theory etc. Pi is almost certainly a fundamental physical constant as well as a mathematical constant. That brings up another brain teaser: Which is more primitive: Math or physics? One could argue that physics is more primitive than mathimatics. You can't count unless their's causation and place holding. Causation and place holding both presuppose some sort of physical underpinning.
